What Are You Passionate About?

Recently, I came across the question “What are you passionate about?”. And it immediately sends a chill down my spine as it brings me back to my favorite quotation during my adolescent years.

One of William Shakespeare’s most famous monologues states that:

All the world’s a stage
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.

This quote clearly reflects the truth of life where each one of us does played many roles in his/her lifetime. So you must be wondering, what’s the big deal?

Here’s the catch. I added an extension to the original passage. Since then, this quote has become one of the few anchors that constantly motivates me to envision a purpose in my life and pursue my dreams.

Here’s the modified version that I would like to share with all of you:

All the world’s a stage
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.
An opportunity is given to become either a background actor or the lead character.
And it is up to you to decide which role to play.

With the inception of this thought, I always tried my best to choose the latter. Moreover, life is too short to waste. Every one of us is given a role and a responsibility to make a difference that leave trails of meaningful moments that advances humanity. It does not matter whether your impact is for one person, ten people or a nation. As evident to my slight modification shown above, a small difference can grow to become a big influence.

To be able to know what role to play, you need to know what you are passionate about and what your heart desires. This newly-discovered passion, once ignited, would revitalize you with newfound energy and bring you to discover new possibilities and places that you have never imagined before. Let’s begin to colorize our life story by creating “I am passionate about…” statement today!

Great Quotations When You Are At A Crossroad

As mentioned in my previous post, things look very promising here in Southeast Asia. While trying to figure out what my next steps are, I have come across many great words of wisdom. Given the current trend of people migrating to Asia, I am sure many are facing the same current situation that I am in. The following quotations have been a great source of inspirations for me, and I hope they can be yours too.

Let’s check it out:

  • It’s not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.
    Charles Robert Darwin - An English Naturalist

    Albert Einstein - A Theoretical Physicist and Philosopher
  • The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
    Lao Tzu - Father of Taoism and a Chinese Philosopher
  • Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life.
    Dr. David M. Burns - Bestselling Author of Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy
  • All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
    Walter Elias Disney - Found of The Walt Disney Company
