Thus, yes, you will see wealthy people without the good academic background. Yes, you will see some excellent basketball players despite their lower than average height. These people give it their best despite their less than ideal conditions. That is what matters. That is what make life interesting. What do you want in life? If you want it bad enough, you will get it. So, decide early and act. Life is simple, indeed.
